According to a statement from futurist and computer science expert Raymond Kurzweil, humanity may achieve immortality by 2029-2030, and artificial intelligence (AI) will reach technological singularity. Kurzweil claims that people will be able to increase their lifespan by more than a year each year by using nanobots in their bodies that will cure diseases.
He also predicts that AI will self-develop and reach human-level intelligence by 2029-2030, and by 2045, humans will be able to merge with AI, resulting in a 10,000-fold increase in brain power. Kurzweil believes that most of the 147 predictions he made in 1990 were correct, including the prediction that unmanned vehicles would be used as early as 2009.
